One of the best parts of Stardew Valley's 1.5 update is all of the new quests that tack on hours of gameplay. During the second day of fall on the player's first year, a new commission board will be set up right below Mayor Lewis's house. This board will have special orders on it that are put in by the citizens of the town. Completing these tasks will unlock new items and cutscenes, and will also make the game much easier for the player in the long run.

Unlike a traditional request, special orders will have an extended time limit that will vary by task. In addition, most of the special orders can only be done once, though a small handful will be repeatable quests.

Updated on March 19, 2021 by Jessica Thomas: There is a lot to do in the new Stardew Valley update. Players who are wanting to make the most out of their farms should complete the special orders to obtain all new items. These items can help make farm tasks much easier by doing tasks like processing geodes. Every single special order gives out a reward, and there is no other way to get these new items in the game. For the most part, the special orders are relatively easy to complete, and all players should be able to handle them by their second in-game year. Below is every special order currently in the game, as well as, some tips on how to complete them quickly.

18 Islands Ingredients

Island Ingredients is a simple quest that requires that player to harvest one hundred pieces of a tropical crop. Players can choose between harvesting ginger, taro root, or pineapple for the quest, but they won't be able to mix and match.

The reward is half the value of the crops and a solar panel that can generate batteries. This is best done by planting seed on the island form.

Community Clean-up is a quest given by Linus, who is tired of taking a bath in dirty water. He will commission the player to fish up twenty pieces of trash and then place them into the recycling box above the train tracks.

The player will then gain the fiber seed recipe, 500 gold, and a special lake cutscene. This quest can be done by fishing at any in-game location at any time.

16 Cave Patrol

Cave Patrol is given by Gus and is like his regular requests. The player will be given a full week to slay fifty monsters. The monster is determined at random by the game and can be bats, skeletons, grubs, or dust sprites.

The reward for the quest is 6,000 gold and a geode crusher for processing geodes on the farm. To find monsters quickly, check to see which floors they spawn between.

15 Aquatic Overpopulation

This is given by Demetrius, who needs the player to help thin out the local population of fish. He will send the player to catch either twenty river, ocean, or lake fish. These fish can be of any type.

The quest rewards the player with a farm computer recipe and gold for the fish captured. Check this fish guide here to easily locate the target.

14 Rock Rejuvenation

Rock Rejuvenation is given by Emily, who needs a collection of crystals to do a ceremony. The player will need to have unlocked her sewing machine to activate this special order. Emily will need to be given an amethyst, a topaz, an emerald, a jade, and a ruby.

This will earn the player a cutscene in Emily's home, a personal sewing machine, and 1,500 gold. Most of these items can easily be found in Skull Cavern or Volcano Dungeon on high luck days.

13 Gifts for George

Gifts for George is requested by Evelyn, who wants her husband to know that others care about him. This commission is only available in the spring as it requires the player to gather twelve leeks from foraging.

The player will receive the coffee maker that creates a cup of coffee a day and 2,000 gold.

12 Biome Balance

Aquatic Overpopulation is given by Demetrius, who is worried about the water biomes of the area. He will task the player with capturing ten of the same fish, which will vary by season.

The player will receive 1,500 gold along with a farm computer recipe that gives the player quick farm stats.

11 Fragments of the Past

This is a super simple quest that is put up by Gunther. The player simply needs to kill skeletons and gather 100 bone fragments to take to the museum.

Once this is down, they will get a bone mill recipe in the mail and 1,500 gold. Skeletons appear on floors 71 to 79.

10 Gus' Famous Omelet

This is given out by Gus, who needs the player to harvest twenty-four eggs from their chickens within fourteen days. The player will need to deliver the eggs to the tavern fridge to get their reward.

This earns the player 3,000 gold, a mini-fridge, and a cutscene at the tavern.

9 Crop Order

Crop Order can appear in any season but winter and is given by Mayor Lewis. The player must grow and ship 100 crops before twenty-eight days passes in order to earn the rewards.

The player will get 50% of the crop value and a mini-shipping bin. The island farm and greenhouse are a great way to plant multi-yield crops for fast harvesting.

8 The Strong Stuff

The Strong Stuff is given by Pam, who wants the player to brew twelve potatoes into juice. This quest will only appear in spring and requires barrels. Potatoes are single-yield crops so be sure to plant twelve different plants.

The player will earn a cutscene at Pam's house, 3,000 gold, and the F.I.B.S channel.

7 Pierre's Prime Produce

Pierre's Prime Produce is meant to help Pierre try and make even more money. He needs the player to grow and then deliver twenty-five gold star crops to the store for him to try and sell.

This unlocks a store cutscene, 2,500 gold, and another mini-shipping bin. Using fertilizer can help to increase chances of gold-star crops.

6 Robin's Project

Robin mentions a hardwood bed when the board is first added in year one. This commission follows through on that by requiring the player to harvest and deliver eighty hardwood.

This will unlock a cutscene in her shop, 2,000 gold, and a new bed model. The best way to do this is by keeping hardwood trees growing on your farm at all times.

5 Robin's Resource Rush

Robin will put up notices that challenge the player to harvest 1,000 pieces of wood in a week. The player gets to keep the wood, and hardwood doesn't count.

The reward is a stone chest recipe and 2,500 gold. The forest can usually help the player complete this quest and keeping a tree farm is also a great idea.

4 Tropical Fish

Tropical Fish won't unlock until after the player has built the resort on Ginger Island. The player will have to fish around on the island to catch five Discus, five stingray, and five lionfish.

This will unlock the deluxe aquarium and give the player 2,500 gold.

3 Juicy Bugs Wanted!

Juicy Bugs Wanted requires the player to retrieve bug meat for Willy. The player will need to collect one-hundred bug meat and then deliver them to the docks. Bug appear on floors 1 to 29 in the mines.

This simple request will earn the player a cutscene on the beach, a quality bobber, and 5,000 gold.

2 A Curious Substance

A Curious Substance is requested by the Wizard and will force the player to fight ghosts in the mine. The player will have seven days to kill ghosts in order to get them to drop ectoplasm. Ghosts will appear throughout the Skull Cavern and on floors 51 to 79 of the mine.

After delivering the item to the Wizard, the player will receive 2,500 gold and a mini-obelisk recipe.

1 Prismatic Jelly

This is another mine-based quest given by the Wizard. This time the player will have seven days to wander the mine looking for a color-changing slime to kill for its prismatic jelly.

The quest awards the player with 5,000 gold and a monster musk recipe.
